Tool handle as a connecting tool "bridge", affect the processing quality and cost

As an important "bridge" connecting machine tools and tools, the tool handle is related to the machining accuracy, cutting tool life, processing efficiency, and so on, ultimately affecting the processing quality and processing cost.
Therefore, how to correctly choose a suitable knife handle is very important.
Due to the different processing requirements, and it is echoed by different clamping methods of the shank. Here, the general characteristics of various knife handles are briefly introduced.
(1) Spring knife handle
Working principle: The use of taper spring jacket in the process of axial movement (locking) gradually shrink, clamping tool.
Scope of application: drill, reamer, finishing end mill, etc.
Features: wide range of clamping;
Good versatility; High precision (only limited to some manufacturers).
Key points: Whether the spring jacket can be perfectly uniform contraction is one of the key factors to determine the beating accuracy; Bearing nuts can greatly reduce the torque on the jacket when locking.
(2) hydraulic tool handle
Working principle: hydraulic handle makes use of hydraulic pressure to shrink the inner diameter of the handle to achieve clamping tool.
Application: end milling cutter, carbide bit, diamond reamer and other high precision processing.
Features: Easy to operate, only one T-spanner can be tightened, belongs to all the tool handle clamping mode is the most simple;
The accuracy is stable, the tightening force does not directly act on the clamping part, even if the new operator can stable clamping;
Completely waterproof and dust-proof;
Anti-interference performance is good, the market part of the thin hydraulic shank, has been comparable to heat shrink shank anti-interference performance.
(3) Heat shrinkable tool handle
Working principle: Using the tool handle and tool thermal expansion coefficient difference, clamping tool.
Scope of application: high interference conditions required processing occasions.
Features: good anti-interference; Clamping range is small, can only hold a size of cutting tools; Early runout accuracy is good (with the increase of heating times decreased quickly); Need special heating and cooling device, poor safety, high requirements for operators.
(4) strong milling cutter handle
Working principle: By pressing the nut handle body shrinkage, realize clamping tool.
Application: Heavy cutting of end milling cutter.
Features: high rigidity; The clamping force is strong, and the clamping force is the largest among all clamping handles.
Bad interference prevention; (Recently, some manufacturers have also introduced a strong milling shank with a nut outer diameter of only 32mm)
Runout accuracy is general, generally below 0.02mm, but there are also manufacturers to do 5~10μm.
Key points: whether the elastic deformation is uniform, whether the shrinkage is enough. (The chuck is thickened to increase rigidity and withstand heavy cutting by end milling cutters.)
Typical case: Japanese BIG (BIG) company produced strong milling cutter shank, using a very unique slit structure, can make the chuck uniform deformation, has a strong clamping force and stable beating accuracy.
(5) Side fixed tool handle
Principle: As the name suggests, the cutting tool is locked by side fixing screws.
Scope of application: Used for rough machining of drill and milling cutter with flat shank.
Features: simple structure, large clamping force; But the accuracy and universality are poor.
This is an introduction to the main shank.
Overall, the handle industry is still good and bad, although the accuracy of the handle is also improving, and the brand of the handle is gradually increasing, which provides users with more choices.
However, a considerable number of users still do not know enough about the importance of the handle: they pay too much attention to the initial cost, but ignore the processing efficiency and quality improvement brought by high quality handle, and tend to choose cheaper rather than higher quality handle, which leads to higher final processing cost, thus restricting the development of enterprises.
Therefore, when choosing a knife, we should not only pay attention to the characteristics of different handles, but also pay attention to the quality of different brand handles.
